Stubborn Seed

South Beach

Gritty and industrial yet refined. These are the words that define the design for Stubborn Seed, the first restaurant by chef Jeremy Ford.

Located in the heart of South Beach, Miami on 101 Washington Avenue, Stubborn Seed stands out. Raw and textural materials wrap the space. Concrete floors, white brick walls and open dark gray painted ceilings with exposed ductwork give this space an edgy backdrop. Contrasting this is leather channel tufted upholstery in the banquettes and sophisticated bar with art deco wallcovering.

Center stage in the space is the window into the kitchen. The layout for the dining room was designed in a theater-style arrangement, so all guests can see dishes coming together and being prepared. A glance into the kitchen also offers a view of custom artwork tiles. Mimicking the vertically installed white brick on the walls in the dining room, the kitchen subway tile is installed vertically and has custom hand sketched fish bones, turnips and carrot arranged in a tattoo-style composition. A custom marble and blackened steel chefs table sits directly in front of this window and offers diners the ‘best seat in the house’.
